What is the best way to clean an old Amal carb it has gone dull over the years. Thanks.

Ultrasonic cleaning tank and then aqua / vapour blasted in my opinion

Thanks Nudger. I did the ultra sonic at home. I contacted a blasting company £66 plus vat an hour :roll:

There is a fella near me (Cambridge) who does aqua blasting, could probably post it to him? He does a whole engine case for about £65 ;)

Let me know if you want his number to have a chat with him.

I don't know if you fancy a go yourself but I'd think you should be able to get good results with some autosol & a tooth brush & a bit of elbow grease..

Thanks lads. I am enjoying this restoration. I just had an email from a friend who services engines for British Airways. He has offered to clean my carb, cylinder head and hubs FOC with aqua-blasting, happy days. It's not what you know. :)
