Ts1 30 mm jetting ?

Postby steve chapman » Sun Sep 24, 2017 7:15 pm

Hi , I've just built a ts1 and I'm running it on a bgm box pipe ,
And a 30mm phbh , timming set at 19°, I was advised to set
Carb at 140 main , x7 second clip , av268 , and 55,Pilot
When I'm taking it easy it feels ok except a bit of four s
troking , but when I open it up if coughs and splitter but eventually clears , I tried an x13 on 1 1/2 clip and it does the same ,
Is the main a bit too big ? Or is it the needle ?
Any help would be good , thanks Steve

Hi, be better to set your timing as a minimum 17 BTDC ;)
as for your carb, you need to do plug chops @ each 1/4 throttle setting to really find out where she's rich / weak & then alter your needle / jets to suit

Thanks for your replys , the above settings where given to me by af , I keep getting conflicting ideas on the timming , some say 17 some say 19 ? , just wanted to get it close before doing plug chops, I've put a 135 main in tonight and seems loads better , so will do a series of plug cops over the weekend , thanks Steve

Be careful mate, I run a TS1 with a JL3 exhaust and got rid of the 4 stroking but ended up with a seize even though I did plug chops it had a weak spot at 50 mph which I was not aware of until finishing off running in after the last seize and had increased speed from 40mph to 50 mph.
Russ at Lincs Lambretta picked it up on his dyno and it has been a bugger to resolve, now I have the stroking back at low revs but have resigned myself it is the better of the two evils !

I've been out doing a few plug chops and it is defernatly running lean at about 50 to 55mph , 1/4throttle , I have tried an x7 second clip , av268 55 pilot 135 main 40 slide , 19 deg timming and had a slight nip up , I also tried an x13 on second clip but it was very boggy , would backing the timming of to 17 deg help , any thoughts , Steve

I've just ordered an av266 so will give it a go , I'm using one of the reedspeed manifold and it didn't have a front fixing like std ts1 , not sure if anyone else has had problems 're air leaks ? Steve

I had air leaks on a new readspeed manifold, Russ at Lincs even struggled to seal it.
