Which Head ?

Postby St George » Tue May 22, 2018 4:18 pm

I recently gave my head and barrels an inspection. I was not happy with the head plug thread. I put on a standard AF Head and the engine don't seem to like it. I have polished ports, Jap Con-Rod with 3 mm packer and and a big bore Clubmans and 30 mm Carb. Can anyone suggest a sensible cylinder head for green lanes.

Why not get your original head helicoiled?

It will be a much stronger thread as a result.

AF's head............
did you check your squish?
is your piston a jap or a std curved crown?

Whichever head you get it should be profiled to the piston. Then, as said, check the squish.

You haven't said what your original head is ?

Shouldn't be a problem with the AF head if matched to the piston.

Thanks for replies, head went in the bin. Don't have a clue what it was as it came with the bike. The piston looks standard apart from a shortened skirt.
