Anyone got a Chiselspeed ADS Exhaust on a Series 1/2??

Postby Donnie » Wed May 23, 2018 10:26 am

So, I'd been after one of these for ages, then got one off here ages ago and finally have it fitted, however when I went to put the exhaust side panel on I find the problem :-( I actually removed the handle inner and outer, put the panel on, put the inner catch on from underneath lol.

So, Ive looked online and cannot see if there is a specific version for series 1/2 due to the wider bodywork as Im thinking that this looks to me like it comes in close because it would sit right on a series 3?

Donnie when it was initally fitted on mine left all the fittings loose with the panel on initially it was close to the handle but cleared it , i then fitted a JL/Franny Bobbin between the bracket to space it away worked a treat but make sure you dont stress the exhaust, there is no difference series 1/2/3 in the pipes , i have the new CST 3 which has good clearance .

Cheers Toddy, this is what I was thinking, couldn't find evidence of there being a seperate version so thought it must be me. Reassuring to know I was right :D :D

I'll have a play with spacing it out a bit

Or use longer bolts with spacers on the bottom of the bracket ( where it bolts into the casing) I also have a CST 3 on a S1/2 and spaced it out 6mm at the bottom.

I’ve been running the CST3 in my TS1. Really nice pipe, bit loud but rides well, very grunty! I’ve also tried it on my 283 this week and compared to the Super Tourer it’s a lot smoother delivery and revs up to about 7800- 8000 same as the ST which was a surprise.

Well, after trying and after contacting Chiselspeed who were very responsive, no luck, Im no numpty but there's no way I can seem to get this to fit without fouling on the panel handle, i've an old scooterloopyjohn mount and rubber exhaust bobbin so going to use that and fabricate a bar to go between :-/

What I would do would be to cut the flange off that fixes to the silencer via the three bolts and alter the angle slightly, tack back on (on the scooter to get the angle right) then take the pipe back off and reweld fully. Very easy fix.

Ended up taking the arm off that fixes to the casings and heating it with my gas gun, knocking it to a better angle, only problem was that this ended up with a large gap between said arm and the bracket on the silencer, however, i scrounged up an exhaust rubber bobbin that fitted pretty much perfectly so Im happy. :D :D

Question for a clubmate here if I can. Can the ADS be fitted to a series one WITHOUT cutting the rear runner? He needs a new pipe, refuses to trim rear runner and hates box pipes with a passion. Any advice much appreciated folks, cheers, Speedy.
