Gearing advice

Postby gp200ts1 » Wed Jul 04, 2018 9:07 pm

Running a full frame gp with all carbon fibre bodywork. Engine is an imola with 30mm and jl3 curly pipe. I’m no lightweight so it’s only 1 up riding with probably 10% dual carriageway miles and the rest around town and fast a roads. What final drive ratio would be good? Using standard li150 gearing at the moment but I’d like to drop the revs a bit when out of town riding without the loss of top speed. Any advice?

I have GP 200 box with 19x46 (approx 4.8 final)in my Rapido 230 30mm and JL3 curly and I find it hard work low down, needs a handful to pull off, once it hits 5.5k it pulls like hell, I'm also not small...

At the moment I only have a few miles on it running in so I haven't been thrashing it, but I have feeling it might be better on standard GP200 gearing.

Yours could maybe stand a tooth on the front sprocket if you're currently on 15x46

I ran a stage 3 mb tuned imola using Li150 box 16/46 sprockets (4.9 fd) 28 delly flatslide and bgm v3 clubman.
Damm quick 83mph top speed but did suffer come hills having too drop down a peg. My advice is too stick with the 15/46 and enjoy the grin on acceleration n mid range since you say u only spend 10% on dual carriageways :D

Checking first gear in situ and it looks like I have a standard sx200 box fitted so I’ll leave it with that for the moment and see how it goes
