As said in the title Blowing a down pipe. When my layshaft snapped a few year ago my Taffy pipe down pipe took quite a hit as we went down. Now it hasn’t worn through but it does have a big dent.
Does anybody know who maybe able to blow the dent out ?
Thanks Daz

Some very interesting ways of doing it there. Especially the freezer option. But i think the steel on my u pipe is to heavy a gauge for that option.
So heat it is then.

I haven’t watched the videos, but I think I would cut around the dent with a dremmel cutting disc (or several discs) until the dented bit is a separate bit of metal. I would then hammer out the dent and then weld it back in again.

I recently lent my spare Taff exhaust to a mate who had a local guy make up a jig to reproduce new replacement downpipes for these exhausts.
My mate had a few downpipes done which he says fit and look great and he is a fussy one.
Don’t think the builder would just make one of them but if there was a call for the item he would most probably make a small run of them.

Hi Lambyrider
I’d be interested defo.be good to think others would be.
Gaz there different mate. The taff u pipe fits over the expansion body where as I’m sure the copy goes inside the expansion body. From what I remember the 1st copy’s had a 42mm u pipe too ! The taff is around 48mm !

There’s somebody selling a copy taff pipe on eBay at the moment claiming it to be genuine. It has a taff muffler but the body is definitely a copy. He may genuinely not know the difference.

Trev Harrison (Midas Touch) had to sort me a new downpipe for my Taffy Exhaust a few years back. Might be worth giving him a call to ask?
I also have a new as yet unfitted full Taffy exhaust that could be used to measure up, if need be? (I bought it off Dene last year or the year before).
Cheers
Toot

you are right the copy u bends fit in the main pipe, first ones were 42mm but later were 48mm
Harry Barlow made a u bend for genuine taffy for a mate of mine at a good price.
