mugello 186 poor performance

I have the latest Mugello 186 kit fitted on my tv 175 3, just ran it in for 200 miles,but it runs like a wet fart, very boggy when pulling away from even a slight hill,4 strokes like mad , just lack of power.The settings are timing 17,squish 1.4, delly phbh 26, slide 40 ,main 115,pilot 50,needle x13,2nd down,atomizer av266, ram filter, tv gearbox, 14x47 ,scoot rs expansion.I have been told to fit a 30 mm delly & bin the expansion, but i don't want to throw money at new carbs/ exhausts if the problem if it will just be the same, any idea's please.

The carb is fine but the ScootRs exhaust is well known for being a 'revvy' pipe and will be at least part of your problem. Moving the clip up to the top notch might help clean up the mid range but I'll let others elaborate on your setup.

Can you borrow a clubman pipe from a club member to try and see if it makes a difference? I took the JL3 off mine and put an Ancillotti on which pulls like a train from low down now but loses the top end a bit,but that suits my riding style.

Carb seems a little rich on the needle and atomiser choice (although I have no experience of current Mugellos) and clip position, with the RamAir filter making it richer still. Combine this with a poor low rpm pipe and difficult launch is not too surprising. Easiest way to see if a weakening of mixture might help is to take off the filter and see if that helps.

I run a Muggy 186 with PHBH 28mm Ancillotti open carb all tuned up by Chiselspeed, just haven't got the time for messing about with the carb, best thing i did. Runs a treat.Col

I find an X7 needle works best with AV266 atomiser and also imo the main is a bit high at 115, try maybe a 110 and as others have said maybe try a less revvy pipe. Also the gearing could be adding to the cause but I know feck all about TV gearing,

Had a similar set up running pretty well , AV264 with X2 2nd , the other difference was 110 main.
That was Muggy with PM pipe.

Definitely sounds rich for a 26 but if you've run it in like this for 200 miles and it's been like this all the time I have to ask why it's not been jetted better from the start? who did it for you?

Are you and your mate actually proficient with jetting though? I mean have you ever done it before or are you giving it a go if you see what i mean?

If you're not sure about jetting I would very much recommend googling it for 2 strokes, Cambridge Lambretta do a pretty good "how to" on their website, I'd start there mate.

I had similar problems after a stator failure, changed everything. Running slightly different on PM pipe with 28mm carb. I was about to give up all hope and go back to standard, seen this on scootererotica and thought give it a bash.( thanks Lammydave)
Although below was set up slightly different to what I was running on this has worked a treat. However as previous posters state, if you live nearby a professional I'd certainly go with this as it will save a lot of frustration.

X7 needle (3rd clip, but may move to 2nd once i'm happy that plug colour is ok)
50 Pilot
