Spoke with Eden, he's been very helpful, Not got the thing back up and running yet but a piston is available.

Great idea. I'm always trying to work out how petrol I've got in the tank.

Getting back to the subject, there was a time when I was contemplating building a GT240 for somebody, but that idea got shelved.

Nonetheless, the piston was a consideration, though I still don't understand why the TS250 piston was selected rather than the DT250, which is only 1mm different in compression height & already has inlet ports to suit.

Despite asking the relevant people, no answer was ever forthcoming.

Anyway, I now have a DT 250 (70 mm) piston to build into a TS1 kit & apart from ring peg positions need checking, believe that it will work very well.

I would say definitely worth considering as a reasonable priced spare, almost ready to fit apart from the cylinder base difference, but ensure that the later type is bought, unless you like Dykes rings.

They can be had for less than 30 quid, too..... ;)

Would 1979 be considered a "later" type?

As rossclark says, that is Dykes ring type.

I have seen them @ £25.20 on ebay, but got one from Grampian/Mitaka in the end.
