AF crank

Rebuilding my TS1 , been brilliant for approx 6 years, loads of mile, hassle free.
Got an AF crank in it and was going to buy a new AF one to replace it.
Loads of negative stuff on various forums regarding AF cranks ( mine has been great ).
There are new cranks on the market now ie- jasil + bgm pro.
Are these regarded as better cranks ?

Why don't you just rebuild your AF crank with a new rod and bearing? Paul

I would get the af crank rebuilt will a new pin and big end bearing, rayspeed will be able to do this for you, ive had it done while I waited in the shop, for added piece of mind you could have the pin welded as well to eliminate twisting, would not cost much money, and should be as good as new

i gotta Mec 60mm rebuilt off Ray & waited in shop back in may
i chatted with Ben as i waited & mentioned getting Big end pin welded & Ben recommends NO dont do it...
saying something about the hardened steel used on crank pins needed a specialist type welding process for it to be ok??

Tig welding so as to get the penetration but not disperse very much heat. Harry Barlow or Chalky at Replay both do this.

I've been welding crank pins for 25Hp+ motors for decades using only an arc welder. Never had one returned.
Strangely....... most of the cranks I end up welding have AF Rayspeed written on the webs. Go figure!!!
