Mugello manifold

Postby Wack » Sun Nov 24, 2019 3:52 pm

I was hoping to use a TV175 manifold with a solid mount PHBL 24 in a Mugello 198 kit but find that the carb won’t go on as the bowl fouls on the head cowl and engine mount. A standard carb goes on just but the fuel banjo touches the mount. Anyone recommend a solid mount manifold that would fit with the PHBL. Machining the stub to size is not a problem.A lesson learned is never use a Mugello again as a simple bolt on kit!

Hi yes, just done one for someone PHBL 25 onto a Mugello 198 i used an MB manifold as this allowed good clearance on both the float bowl and banjo.

I was also able to use a modified air box with MB mesh filter but used the casa bellows which give just enough flex to allow everything to line up nicely. (Scootopia ones are to stiff and the cheap ones to floppy).

Sorry just noticed you said solid mount, the one i did was a rubber mount.

Hope this helps

Jet200 make a fantastic manifold for clamp-on PHBL carbs. I used one for many years, and can't fault them. I believe RLC also make a manifold for clamp-on Dell'Ortos, but can't remember if it's for the PHBL or PHBH.

Ended up with a cheap cast manifold similar to the Scoot RS one, then cut the stub off and welded a turned one on .Now carb fits perfect. Thanks for the advice all.

I had the same problem with a standard manifold but found that a TV175 one gave me enough clearance. Odd one that as yours didn’t.

Postage would probably be faster than some UK dealers
