Racing exhaust MB RT 195

Postby tommy200184 » Sun Sep 26, 2021 9:04 am

Hi, i want to fit a racing exhaust on my MB RT 195.
Someone knows the timings of the cylinder?
I'd like to fit the nordspeed exhaust, it's timings are :
- Transfer port timing : 124°-130°
- Exhaust port timing : 184°-192°
- Blow down timing: 29°-31°

Or could you advice me an adapted exhaust ?

Hi Tommy.

The RT 195 port timings are on page 81 of Sticky’s “kit book”. I don’t think Martin would be too impressed with me repeating them here as he did a lot of research to come up with these figures in order to sell books.

However, I would say that the port timing of the standard RT 195 kit are very modest and nothing like those you quote for the Nordspeed exhaust. Frankly, I think they would be a mis-match

Others may wish to comment.....

No my barrel hasn't been ported.
If I understand, the nordspeed isn't adapted for thr RT.
Which exhaust would work fine?

Nowadays there is a huge choice of top end kits available & you decided to buy into the MB product range.

I will say that MB is never short of an opinion (even if it results in him being removed from Ray Kemp's Christmas card list when he slagged off the Rapido) so I looked on MB's website...Shhhh!

On the RT set up page, this is what is said:

"Try to avoid the latest range of ''Race'' exhausts on the market"

I say this with all sincerity, with you having bought the product, & in fairness to MB ( ) I think the best place you should be researching your requirement is via the MB website if you intend to leave the kit standard ;)

No real mention of exhausts (that I could see on a quick once over) in the BGM instruction manual, in the carb section it gives jetting recommendations for various carbs and with the exception off a Taffspeed all exhausts are BGM big box.

Ah, in my defence I was quoting from the Scooter center booklet that comes with the kit and not MB's website.

The BGM clubman sport is still not available.
What do you think of the JL KRP1. Can it work well with the MB Rt 195?

As far as I know, the JL1 exhaust you refer to hasn’t been made for many a year, sadly.

Well that is a bit of a surprise. I have just searched and it appears that SIP have got Jim Lomas to start making them again.

Did you buy from SIP or from a UK Supplier?

I found it at Jockey's Boxenstop, but I think it was the last one because it's now not available on the web site.
I hope i will receive it...

If they operate like Scooter Center in Germany too, you’ll be contacted by the courier to pay the VAT and ancillary charges. Once that is paid, they’ll deliver it.

Actually looks like you can order direct from JL, if no UK dealer starts selling them again.
