Expansion chamber for RT195 cylinder

Postby Pompeydave » Mon Oct 25, 2021 7:42 pm

Hi all, I've decided to change my latest engine rebuild from a Quatrini 210 kit to an RT195. Looking for an expansion pipe as I know this sounds daft I've never had an engine with one fitted and I do like the peaky sound of a good pipe! It'll be a reed valve conversion with a 28mm carb, five speed box and a SIP Vape ignition system. Not looking for anything too wild, so a good all rounder is what I'm after really. Any recommendations please?

Yeah, good question. I read several posts on various forums from people saying how all or nothing a kit it is. Sticky’s latest kit book shows dyno graphs that are just the opposite though in that there is a fairly wide power band. Dunno, what do you think?

I was wary when I decided but I must say I really like mine geared it for touring (4.4 ) more than balls out pulls like a train and keeps going scary at times  rideable round town as well , the cost wasn’t cheap with the usual bits clutch , crank , pipe etc but imho well worth it I like riding it better than my TS , done @3,500 miles so far all good

And is that an RT, or a Quatrini you’re talking about?

I.ve an Rt (piston port not reed valve) and a Quattrini, the Rt is an excellent kit without doubt. However, the Quattrini does everything the RT does...and more,Ive run it with a box pipe and it was a really sedate ride with a ton of low down grunt. Now with an expansion its still great low down but has a massive grin factor when you wind it up!

adding the reed to the RT makes it possibley a bit more expensive as well.

Either way both good kits ;)

Hmmm, I’m in two minds now re the RT. What expansion are you using lozmondo?
