As the title

Are they an expensive upgrade or good value for money?

Any thoughts gratefully received

Cheers.

I have one in my TS1 and I love it.
Last year I did a number of events that involved long distances on minor roads and lanes and 4th gear made was incredibly usable without having to be up and down the gears.
I'm going to fit the af version to my rapido 230 and can't wait to see the difference

Thanks for that feedback

I have a 230 motor which has a great tune and a four speed box which pulls just fine from low down, and just wondering if a five would improve things.

It’s a huge chunk of money to shill out if that’s not gonna be the case.

If you get where I’m coming from.

Cheers Cgt75b.

Have you considered the AF close 5 gearbox?

Had a Cyclone 5 Supreme in my GP for years and it's been fantastic and faultless.

Hi Paddy
Merry Christmas mate.
Yes, the 5 speed boxes are a lot of money but the riding pleasure it has given me since 2014 has been very much worth it.
It changes your riding style for the better, in my opinion.

Highly recommend the MB Scooters five speed. Even more money than the cyclone but British made by Nova Racing Transmissions and an absolute work of art. Had one in my TS1 since 2018, took it out for inspection just before the Polish euro and it still looked brand new after a good few thousand miles. I would bet it still looks the same now after thousands of miles and pulling a sidecar. Saving up for a second as we speak for my Quattrini. Makes the scooter just more rideable all round. At 4.6 final drive I use the 5th gear as a sort of overdrive for faster roads and really helps it stretch it’s legs

I’ve got one it’s great , but I’d probably go AF as there’s been one in our grp6 for 2 seasons. It’s coping with abusive use at 40 HP. Not many road bikes will be getting used n abused like that.

I fitted a Cyclone (to Stocksey), MB (to my TS1), Omega (to my TV) & AF's to various engines, IMHO I'd go for the AF's, still get the grin factor & 1/2 price
