Clutch spring length

I have two sets of clutch springs. One set is around 35mm tall and the other are 28 mm. The ones that are 35mm I presume are standard and the others are the stronger type is my theory correct?

Cheers Simon

Take a look here. http://www.ilambretta.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=8675&p=75002&hilit=Clutch+spring#p75002

Near the end there's a list of springs I tested. You may get your answer there.

Generally speaking, thicker wire and longer free length means heavier. So if they both have the same thickness wire, the longer ones are probably heavier.

I'd also suspect that the 28mm ones are worn out and were originally much longer.

Above are the springs that I use and measurements are uncompressed length/ spring thickness/ compressed length

Unless a material other than 'music wire' has been utilised, there's something strange if a spring wire diameter of only 1.65 mm can be stronger than similar springs of the same manufacture with greater wire diameters.... :?:
