Mugello piston rings recommendations??

Postby mm man » Tue Jan 30, 2018 9:11 pm

Hi I have a 185cc Mugello CL3 ( one of the early versions) kits that I have been running for a few years now .
I will be looking at changing the rings soon as I am still running on the standard set I got with the kit years ago.
I have heard that the original rings wear quite quickly and that there are some better quality ones out there that last a lot longer but I can’t remember what make and who supplies them ?
Can anyone please recommend ones they have used ....what should I be looking for and from where ?
All help appreciated

All Nicasil cylinders give the first set of rings a hard time irrespective of who makes them, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. You will see a substantial improvement on wear with the 2nd set from the same manufacturer.

Cambridge lambretta could be a good place to look.

Good luck.

Cheers guys
Checking the above options
I sent MB a message ref these rings to check the suitability and got a message back saying ... “they are the same as Wiseco and pretty sure they are not suitable “ ?? Any ideas ?

Any one used the Grand-sport version ? They seem to be the ones I remember people talking about a few years ago ?

Cheers

It says on the mb site (that link) that they fit
MB Race-tour pistons
Wiseco pistons
Wossner pistons
MUGELLO pistons
Imola pistons
and Casa pistons
They're 64 mm x1 mm wire piston rings,I have bought and fitted some to a Casa 185 kit.

Yep I saw the link and the list and I just asked them what make were the rings ? As it only states race/tour and if they were a standard type ring ? or one of the “longer life coated/ material ” type rings ?
And that was the answer they gave me ??...seemed a bit odd to me .

Sorry, that was my fault. We have 3000 products and it's hard to keep on top of everything.
