Tyre age

Postby mikeyb1 » Sat Jun 29, 2019 4:35 pm

Hello folks, the tyres fitted to my '62 Series 3 Li125, when I bought it ( a restoration project) look to be original. They're very cracked and hard as nails, so obviously will be replaced. However, I'm intrigued to know how old they actually are. I can't find any info on the web apart from details of markings on "modern" tyres, i.e. DOT marks and 3 or 4 figure date codes. The tyres are CEAT, made in Italy (now of course made in India) M600.07 (model I assume) and have the number 561X774980 sort of branded on the sidewall. I reckon this could give me an answer, but how to interpret it? Any clues? TTFN Mike.
