GP 200 1970

HI I have just acquired this scooter and want to know what need doing to bring it back to original.
it is a 1970 gp 200 from wests of Lincoln 3 owners from new. it has 25000 on the clock and is still working so I believe it to be true.[
the side panels have been resprayed but nothing else.head light is plastic also looks like a zena diode was put on and a ally bracket on the rear mudguard..
first time I saw her, this was bought in 1985 and never used.

It looks good. I'm not 100% sure but it looks as though the rectifier has been swapped for a normal box and also an in line fuse has been added. I'm not too good at these things but it looks as close to original as you could expect after all these years. Lovely find. You should still be able to get a nos headlamp glass if you search around but personally I'd go for one that has been used and they pop up a fair bit so shouldn't cost the earth.

Does anyone have a wiring diagram for a GP200 electronic non battery AC model?.

Agree, what a great find!

For a GP200 Electronic non battery wiring diagram look on the Scootopia website under New news/diary Page 3 and you will find original Innocenti blueprints for both battery and non battery wiring diagrams which can be downloaded. The amazing thing is that they are officially stamped 26th September 1969 which is only a few months after the GP range was launched in the UK and some 16 months before the GP200 Electronic was offered for sale in the UK by Lambretta Concessionaires in March 1971.

GP colours,

was orbit orange ever a 200 colour? why was it never mentioned in colour options 150 or 200?

does anyone have an original one they can share pictures with us even a 150?

can anyone share there knowledge on this colour and have a lechler code?

Apart from ochre does anyone know if they produced the DL200E in white or red for the Italian market or were these colour options only available for the British market in GP200E models. Would like to know as I would like something other than ochre for my Italian DL. :?

Both Vittorio Tessera's Definitive History and Pete Davies' Lambretta Bible show only ochre, with the 8080 Lechler code.

Red and white were both GP200E original colours, along with the ochre that is listed. Because the documentation related primarily to the Italian home market, ochre is commonly listed as the only colour option for 200 models, Electronic or not, however this is clearly wrong as there are many original paint examples still available and the UK documentation goes further by actually listing red (not sure about the white) as an original 200cc colour.

looking at the rectifier and junction box? it looks like its got a 12 volt dc conversion, early indian gp200s had this as standard fitting,and a common conversion back in the 80s, ignition is still 6v,but the lights and horn where 12v.

Thank you for the extra info Adam,

Going to go for Hawthorn White for my DL200E , this might provoke debate on the subject of colour originality but for me I want for mine to be a little different from what is perceived as standard, especially as you don't see that many Italian GP/DL's in Hawthorn White anyway. (Famous last words for that last comment as I expect a deluge of White GP's pictures from fellow members to prove me wrong !!) :o

I've just bought an English registered ochre gp200 registered September 1969 with grey plastic toolbox, metal petrol cap, painted rear frame grill but also yellow horn grill. To me this yellow horn grill should be satin black but have seen somewhere that early gp's were painted. Does anyone know?

GP horn cast grill always black, regardless of year, to the best of my knowledge.
