If you take a look at the Frame Numbers Part 2, and the Italian Frame Info sections of the British Lambretta Archive site:

You appear to have a LI 125 S2 frame from late 1961, but with a number that is 900+ higher than recognised by the BLA.
You appear to have an LI 150 S3 engine, probably from 1962.

Jake,

If you look at the first topic of the Anorak's Corner, you are not supposed to create new threads here.
Your 2 threads, frame and engine number should be in Series 1, 2 & 3.
You might want to ask Forum Admin to transfer these.
The slap on the fingers is more embarrassing than painful.

Ok, I'm hoping for some anorak help here, it's related to a post I created in the Series 1/2/3 section.

My questions are:

1) Should an Italian market 1960 li150 have a battery?

2) Has anyone seen this kind of brake light wiring?

Thanks,
Roger

I have a Series II frame which had an Italian dealer sticker on it and it has a battery tray.

Sadly the sticker could not be removed without destroying it....

Does anyone know the correct routing of the fuel pipe on a S2? Am I right in thinking it's a longer route than a S3?

So I kind of offered to restore a friend of a friends Lambretta li150 s2. It belongs to his dad who is 92, and he wants a full on resto right down to paint. He has told me it had green panels when he bought it brand new in 1960.
So looking for a pic of an original paint scooter please so I can show him and confirm with the painter what he wants.
Paint codes as well please although I’m sure the painter can get them as he does lots of Lambrettas...

Hi mate,

Lechier paint code
Body River Grey 8014 > mid 1960
Body Hawthorn grey mid 60 - Jan 61
Panel Nile green 8015

Google Lechier to colour match the grey.

The splash plate is missing from my 1962 LI125 S2.

Is it supposed to be separate from the hooks like an early s3? It has the S3 style hooks.

Also, when I stripped it, it had rubber gaitors on the end of the rear brake cable which seem to be original but there aren't any on the parts diagram I have.

I've just taken my "new" s2 apart (looks like the first time) and the splash plate hooks are attached to the plate. That said, one is detache but I think that's a wear and tear issue rather than design.
It also had the rubber baiter on the rear brake (pedal end, going under the leggies).

Thanks. I'm guessing yours is a late one as well? Mine is 1961.

Early ones had the more flimsy plates instead of stand hooks.

I’ve just bought an S2 Li 150 1961 frame # 910*** There is no original paint on it as it’s current livery is some obscure Italian football team! The main original colours wold have been either Grigio Flume 8014 or Grigio Alba 8019. I intend to paint the whole bike as standard I.e. one of those colours with a std contrast, y’know red green blue etc.
My questions are what colour would my model have been? Which is the darker (greyer) of the two? Hope you can help.
Thanks

8014 is a dark grey, Grigio Fiume (grey river) (not Flume). wheras 8019 Grigio Alba (grey dawn) is more of a dark brown by comparison.
A good local paint supplier might have a Lechler colour chart for you to compare.
As far as I'm aware....... 8014 was used on series 1 machines only. 8019 was used on series 1's 2's and 3's

Thanks for your help F&F. I’ll get samples from Lambretta paints. Might photograph them & put them on here for info.

8040 is the dark grey that was on the panels only. I think you want 8019 Dawn Grey. 8014 River Grey was a series 1 colour.
