Box pipe and TS1

Postby TVSi » Tue Aug 06, 2019 1:48 pm

Hi chaps

i'm looking for some guidance on suitable gearbox ratio for a new BGM box pipe on a TS1 230, i'm fitting one for a friend and though i'm pretty good with TS1 expansion pipes / gearbox combos i have to say i have no experience with the latest BGM pipe, was thinking maybe 4.9 final drive to start with on a Indian GP200 box 19 x 47? Am I off the mark with this? any help is greatly appreciated, thanks

That's a good enough starting point as any, it may even pull 19x46= 4:84. I run 4:95 on my ts1 with a Ron Moss clubman & it seems pretty spot on to me ;) good luck ;)

I'm running 4.7 on my TS1 with Ron moss clubman and it suits me. Don't think I'd want to go any lower though.

Thanks for the guidance :D , i think i'll also mention the Ron Moss pipe to him as it may be more suitable for a TS1 than his choice of BGM V4, thanks guys

yes definitely ,the Ron Moss clubman is worth considering in my opinion ;) the only reason I run 4:95 4th on my scoot is that its a series 1 & not as aerodynamic as a series 3 ! & seems to suit it with this set up ;) good luck.

I have a TS1 253 with a Ron Moss Clubman and it pulls 4.55 with an AF 5 speed easily. I’m 12 stone.

My CST3 fell apart on the Euro so I’ve temporarily fitted my previously modified Gori (larger diameter tailpipe) on my TS1230 (DSC lined and tuned) running it with the same jetting with a 30mm PHBH and an MB5 box with 4.3 final drive (19/46). It’s revs right through and will pull to 7500rpm in 4th but it just tails off a bit in top and will only rev to 6500 so just over 70mph, I reckon it would pull through with 4.45 (19/47) and rev on similar to the CST but without the kick of the expansion.
