Kickstart hitting on running boards

Postby readsandypaul » Thu Sep 12, 2019 3:09 pm

I broke my kickstart (dont overtighten bolt) its a series 2 with a series 3 engine i have tryed lots of kickstarts and none are as wide as mine was. I now have bought a series 2 kickstart for a series 3 engine, but having running board extensions and it hits them i have now cut the extensions about so it just about misses but its that close its hard to start. Question Does anyone know anyone who makes an extra wide one? or i dont know if these are cast or god knows what metal can it be heated and bent, should i take to a fordge or stick it in a vice, will it snap or weeken it? Thanks for your help Happy days Paul.

My local metal works/fabricators bend them for me with no problem.
Just done an indian chrome one, it blued abit under the heat but didnt break the chrome.
