Mugello 225 inlet timing

Postby Knowledge » Thu Jan 16, 2020 1:38 pm

Hi,

I am building a Mugello 225 for a mate next week. It comes with a new meteor piston with un-cut skirt. 58 x 110 crank, 28mm Dellorto and Devtour pipe. He wants a touring machine.

I haven't measured the inlet duration with this new piston yet, but has anyone got any experience of inlet timing on this barrel?

To cut, or not to cut?

Muggy inlet port timings are usually all over the place but expect 150*-165* as a rough guide.

+1 just had one with 160' which is very high for road use, especially with the very low transfer timings, so just be careful and check ;)

Check to see what the various port durations are... it's the only way to know which way to go, it may not need anything doing to it.

Thanks Adam and Darren.

As you can imagine, I was going to measure all the port timings (with the Buzzwangle) before cutting any skirts or ports, but I was just testing the water to see what experiences others had had.

If I find something interesting, I may post it on here.
