25mm PHBL or 26mm PHBH on 150 S1

Postby Granty » Fri Apr 03, 2020 10:42 am

Morning Troops -- more of a research, project question. I'm rebuilding a Series 1 engine (well, watching Scott really), it's a standard block just now to get it moving but in the future I will kit this. The question is apart from the cost what's the operational differences between a 25mm PHBL and a 26mm PHPH dellorto. Initially I'll run the bike standard probably with a 42mm clubman or keep the original pipe if I can salvage it, not interested in power, just want a Sunday plodder to start with. In the future though it'll have a kit in it GT 186 for example.

Let me know what you think and I'll take it from there, no rush with this one, still trying to get the cylinder of the piston and change the crank etc. Thanks & go well boys & girls.

If you are going to upgrade in the future I would go with the phbh, maybe even a 28mm.

There's an piece in an old LC USA mag were they used a PHBG21 as a direct replacement for an MB21 he used a std GP 150 manifold and it fitted a std air hose

Go with the 25 delly, smaller compact compared to the 26, and if at a later date with the gt kit a 28 for more Go :D like Rich said ;)

Jon at Casa Lambretta USA (formerly known as Jet200) pioneered this conversion and sells machined Innocenti manifolds to fit the clamp-on PHBG. For Framebreathers, Jon at Urban Scooters has one with an SH1/20 fitted that ultilizes the original air intake. It was achieved by machining the 'F28' box to fit mouth of the SH1/20.

Cheers -- I'm assuming you can run a 25mm PHBL open mouthed or with a remote filter?

Personally I would run a 25phbl through a drilled airbox and if you wanted open mouth or remote filter then go to 26phbh.

You can do any of them but like Rich says if ur leaving the airbox in place then run some holes through it or get the Bgm setup. Me personally I always prefer remote filter as never been keen on open mouth setup :D
