Mirror mounted on front brake pivot

Postby Knowledge » Tue Oct 06, 2020 10:20 am

Who makes/sells the rear view mirror that mounts through the pivot of the front brake lever?

Are they any good?

They do tend to turn round in use, the temptation is to tighten them up but can stop the lever operating. I drilled down the side of the stud leaving a small stud like the woodruff key on the crank. A small cutout under the stud stops it turning round.

That is neat Mat, but I have gone with the other mirror, just because I can fit it and give the scooter back to the guy who owns it (and hopefully, get it out of my life forever)

However, next time.....

(And thanks Rich too)

I have them on my series 2 and silver special and they are good. The S2 brake lever housing must be thinner than the special's because if you overtighten the mirror the brake lever does not return. I have overcome the mirror movement by putting a tractor rocker cover copper washer under the mirror arm.

Send me your address and I'll send you one.

Just noticed a tipo in my message, it's a rocker cover not rocket

Nice one David. One man’s spare washer is another man’s life saver.

That is what this forum is all about.
