Yes I felt quite embarrassed with my 14 year old Daughter in tow last year being "force fed" gay men snogging openly, she however thought it was funny and we ended up laughing about it in the end.

I used to go every 2 years to a certain political parties conference as a steward (and as I'd done it a few years I was privileged enough to look after the VIP balcony, having a cup of tea with ambassadors of here there & everywhere was always nice!) and the gay pubs were always the best laugh to unwind in the evenings and have a light meal.
Always loved Brighton since an 'auntie' (my mum did her nursing training there and still had many friends who worked at the hospital) lived there so I spent many happy holidays on the beach or racecourse or in the shambles.

Some great reviews.

As a non scooterist who wants to go on the train, enjoys light meals in gay bars and has no issue with being force fed same sex snogging it sounds ideal.
This thread is better than trip advisor.

Middle aged blokes look daft in just about anything including adidas trainers flight jackets and all the rest of the stuff associated etc

W G A F anyway wear what you want ride what you want snog who you want.

Agrreeng with Blackfeather on this .Rode scoot with sidecar attached last year to Brighton and had a great time. The Ferry cost to the IOW for the combination was an insult.
Although I appreciate the different venues have their pros and cons with camping being off the menu at Brighton being a major factor ,but still can’t understand why both (which have taken a lot of time and trouble to organize ) need to be on the same dates. This simply divides the spirit of unity (the essential glue) so prevalent in the scooter fraternity.
Personally living in Portsmouth ,close to Brighton (60 miles), and near the Ferry I can ,and have in the past managed both on the Bank Holiday so hold the greatest respect for those who ride great distances to either .
Looking forward again this year to the fantastic atmosphere these events conjure up and would welcome other’s opinions on their motives for choosing between the two.

Just a thought !
Reference lack of camping at Brighton.......
Apart from the danger of pitching the tent too close to an incoming tide , stumbling about drunk close to the water ,the drunken temptation to go for a moonlight swim (and never be seen again)
The difficulty of manouvering a scooter on that stony Brighton beach, the eternal tremendous noise from the waves crashing onto the shore, the task of pegging down a tent with no earth to drive the pegs into ,The unshielded howling wind on the seafront, the sheer discomfort of laying on those stones without max padding. Is there any other trivial reasons camping can’t be undertaken on the beach? Is it legal?

The LCGB supports the Nationals and there would be an obvious conflict with organising any other event that has the same dates as a National

It took 35 posts for Mick to point out the obvious reason why the LCGB wouldn’t be able to support another rally on the same weekend. Well done Mick.

I love LCGB events, but if I wanted to go to Brighton, I wouldn’t feel I had to do it with the support of the Lambretta Club; I’d just go.
