Thanks mate, there's nothing I like more than rebuilding engines and spanner-twiddling in general.
Regarding your question about compression, it does look like that, but no, it's all normal. The week before fitting the engine, it was freezing and on the day I chose to fit it, it was snowing lol
It was just cold and very grumpy. It will now start on the first or second kick

Thanks, it certainly was. I've never worked on an engine that was so badly seized & corroded.

I've done a few miles on it and it goes rather well I think. The lightened flywheel certainly makes a difference.
