Improve Ride Quality

Postby Hughieboy » Fri Jun 07, 2019 9:34 am

Good Morning,

Has anyone got any tips on improving ride quality?

I've been out running in my new GT186 top end in my S2 but it bangs and crashes about too much and it spoils the ride. Typically the roads around here are full of potholes and uneven surfaces and I'd like to soften things up a bit if I can. Currently got the wide type Escorts dampers on the front and a shiny new Scootopia adjustable rear shock with the adjuster wound out to it's slackest. Having just spent a fortune on the engine I don't really want to spend another couple of hundred quid on front dampers at this point but I'm not even sure if that's the issue.

On bikes I've changed fork springs for progressives which is a fairly cheap fix usually. Not really sure where to start with this, I just want a bit of a softer more forgiving ride, its a right old bone shaker at present! I should add I'm about 13 1/2 stone and running on SIP tubeless rims with tyre pressures set for one person as per Stickys manual.

Any tips?

Hiya...

Nothing banging/crashing....

I did all the shorter shock/offset mounts etc and everything fits. It was a general ‘how to make your Lambretta a bit softer/smoother’ question.

It’s just a hard ride, gives me a sore arse! :D
