I have just found them on eBay. A pack of 5 for £1.80 inc postage, delivered by Saturday.

Not really relevant to you wanting a roll pin and I don't think it matters much to fitting stand roll pins but long ago as an apprentice I was told there is a correct way to fit roll pins. The slot in the pin should face in the direction of any pressure applied to it during use. That may be a bit of useless info to pass on to your 'friend'.

I dont fit roll pins.I fit long bolts.When it comes to removing the feet I just pull out the bolts and the feet just slide off.

My local car spares keeps a tin of roll pins under the counter, maybe yours does.

That is very kind, but the ones I have ordered will be here in time.

In the end I had to heat both ends of the stand until red hot, so I could knock the old roll pins out, but I am still going to replace with roll pins. I think my friend will be surprised when he discovers that both feet couch the ground for the first time in many years.

It could be even better if one of the previous owners hadn’t welded the stand’s J brackets onto the crossmember. That curtailed any attempts to improve this further. Ho hum

Be sure to check the length of the stand from the pin hole to end of the stand.
New rubbers last longer if the length is correct.
