Technical help for Series one, two and three Lambrettas. Models include the Li, Li Special, TV, SX, GP, Serveta and API/SIL models

Hi fellas,
Is there an easy way to test a Lambretta rectifier is doing what it should? I.e. putting out 6 volts A/C whilst also putting out D/C to charge the battery?
Restoring a S2 TV2 and I’m trying to keep it original but want to make sure the rectifier works before I go down the battery route. My multimeter just jumps all over the place when the engines running and I’m trying to get a reading.
Cheers steve

Digital meters can be a pain when you're measuring anything that fluctuates.
Most have a 'range' button which stop it from auto-ranging; I find this very useful.
Or use an old fashioned moving coil analogue meter.
