Casa 185 running in speeds

Postby Pip110 » Wed Jun 24, 2020 9:36 pm

Hi guys. I have put 260 miles on my new kit and there is a ride out on Sunday of around 60 miles, so far the max speed that I’ve done is About 35mph, could anyone suggest a max speed that I could take it to.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Is it on a. Ew engine or an engine that has been run in before?
Cheers Shane.

35mph is not necessarily the correct way to run it in.
You need to keep the engine spinning freely without labouring it.
There is no reason you cannot rev it out a little more and run it up to 50mph + just so long as it is not under load.

Treat it like you would a geared racing bike. Your legs feel heavy so you change down.

Definitely use your gears on inclines and don't let it struggle.
35mph? Not achieving anything.

Best way to run cylinder in is to use varying speeds, lots of heat cycles at varying rpm ranges over say a 300-400 ml period, just try not to hold it at single throttle position for long periods, increase speed gradually towards max rpm as running in mls are reducing,
good luck

Totally agree, ride round all the estates winding everyone up turning left right right left using all the gears, up and down hill doing the same this way everything gets oiled and greased up!
