Flywheel bearings

Postby ianmoran » Wed Mar 17, 2021 11:40 pm

Asking for a mate,

He's built the engine up with a 2205 bearing instead of a 205. I don't know why.

The question is, will this still run ok with the dished washer in place or does he need to start again?

Thanks

Has he fitted a GP 200 crank? I think the 2205 bearing was fitted to GP 200's only from '69. All other engines use the 205.

The 2205 bearing will be fine you need to leave the spacing ring out

Sorry if this sounds daft but what happens if he leaves the dished washer in place?

if the 3mm spacer washer fitted with a 2205 bearing then there is insufficient room left for the large oil seal and circlip!!!
