Hi, I've bought a 2nd Gen Scootopia fuel tap. Apologies for the newbie question but what are the rubber seal and metal washer for? The rubber seal doesn't easily fit inside the nut, and I don't know where the metal washer might go?
Thanks

Lol, you've got me there. I haven't a clue. Usually rubber washer sits in nut as you have tried. Not sure what the metal washer could be used for
Hopefully someone else will have tried this tap

I'm guessing that the washer is nominally the same size as the 'rubber' seal in which case it would most likely be a 'back up washer" intended to fit between the nut & the washer. It is normal practice to have such an arrangement on plastic waste plumbing fittings (under your sink etc) as it prevents the soft seal getting knarled up by the nut's recessed face during final tightening.

I had the same issue so i e-mailed scootopia, they said throw the metal washer away, the rubber washer can go inside the nut if you want to use it, i didnt and the tap fit fine with no leaks.
