Excuse my ignorance but I have an (Indian) unstamped engine casing i.e there are no stamped engine numbers in the usual position. I was hoping to use this as the basis for a engine rebuild but then have thoughts regarding the law and using engines without numbers in a registered scooter. If any adults are in the room, perhaps they could advise what the situation is regarding the DVLA etc. Thanking peeps in advance

DVLA are not concerned with engine numbers. I have had V5's with no engine number declared as is one I have at present which was recently registered without one. Obviously tell your insurance company what cc you put in and you should really inform DVLA if you put a larger engine in than your scooter is registered as

As Gizmo has said, DVLA couldn't care less if there is an engine number on or not. I have registered scooters with blank casings.
