I have recently got my scooter built and all seems ok except when i start it, the headlight comes on. i know it will dim in some circs, but is a permanently- on headlight a wiring issue or a switch issue?
this is a 1960 no-battery kickstart, CDI etc with very basic wiring. (or do you need more detail?!)
cheers John

Well it must be getting a live feed and an earth to light up, so I'd get the volt meter out and have a poke about..

thanks (sorry been away due to family issue). if unresolved, will this make it harder to start with kickstart as presumably the light will use power?

Do you know what mate, I used to think that when I saw people trying to start their scooters with the lights switched on. That isn't the case though as ignition and lighting are on two totally different circuits within the stator and it should not affect starting.

It can have an affect if your flywheel is heavily demagnetized. Especially on a 4 pole stator.
