TV 175 SERIES 2 ENGINE NUMBER HELP

Postby STREETSLEEPER » Thu Feb 12, 2015 3:18 am

ENGINE NO. 175 TV/2 *129098*

I've looked at a handful of online sites and places but I would really appreciate an expert's or even an anorak's opinion.
The engine is a TV175 S2 and I'd like to know if there is anything particular/different/noteworthy about it.
Someone told me it was one of the last S2 TV175s built (?) One tiny detail, the kick-start shaft, for instance, has two circlips on it.
AF told me that at one time Innocenti asked their dealers to retrofit these whenever a scooter came into the workshop.
The engine, along with other TV175 parts were fitted to an LI 125 frame (125 LI 764842) and the bloke who sold me the
scooter in 2007 wasn't aware of the modifications. BTW, I have to sell both (reluctantly), so I'll post a topic in the For Sale section.
Thank you in anticipation of any help!

there was a recommended modification that involved milling about a mm off the inside of the casing at the kickstart boss and fitting a stronger, slightly shorter, shaft.

Perhaps the second circlip was a bodge for not replacing the shaft after the case was modified? pull it thru a bit further?

Thanks rossclark, there ware actually two different grooves, one inside and one right before the kickstart lever itself. The new circlips that AF sent me were much improved. They are castellated, which is a more modern and improved version of the ordinary old circlip.
