Front brake light switch

Postby geotomc » Tue Apr 21, 2015 10:31 pm

I'm thinking of fitting a front brake light switch to my GP150. I believe the ones on the market fit in the brake cable somewhere, any ideas, please.

easiest way if bike is built with harnes and cables already done is to use a vespa px outer cable insert compression switch

remove the inner front brake cable, cut the front brake outer cable in the headset and put the switch inline between the two part outer. thread the inner through outer cable(s) and switch and reconnect. Then run a wire from each of your existing rear brake light wiring and connect up to the front brake light switch, they can be connected any way around

pretty straight forward

I fitted one when I originally rebuilt my curry burner.
Didn't like the extra play it gave the front brake cable, making the already shitty drum feel even worse so ditched it.

Never had any problems with my front brake. A must fit for me as I use the front brake most of the time. Nothing wrong with my brakes either on a series 1 it's not that bad even compared with my ScootRS disk

I should have been more clear. I meant on my drum brakes which were shitty at the time, decent shoes and a non oval hub have sorted them but never bothered re-fitting the switch.

Hey no worries. I have had comments about cable stretch and down right hate it coz it's Ve***. I'm not bothered as for me it's cheap as chips and works. I simple feed from your brown in the headset to the switch and then another wire from the switch down to the pink at the brake pedal and you will show a brake light for front or back brake. Worth a fiver of anyone's money.

Cheers for your replies, I'll do it when I change the front brake to reverse pull.
Thanks.

Done it today, reverse pull and front brake light switch. Front brake loads better, feels good having 2 brakes that work. Cheers.
