Spark Plug Cap

The Official Workshop Manual says that a 12K Ohms should be used.
Why such a big number?
I use non resistor caps at points set ups,what will I lose if I use a 12KΩ?

Nothing, I would think. The reason for a resistor cap is to stop radio/ TV interference but it's strange how Vespas don't have a cap at all.

Thanks Wack,I always thought that less resistance was giving a better spark.
