SIP Speedo with cable

Hello everyone, been a while since I've been on here...

Anyway just finishing my GT200 rebuild and thought I would fit a SIP speedo, I was not planning to connect power straight away but just use with standard cable drive for short period, does the Speedo not work at all without power i.e will the cable alone not move the needle?

No mate.
has to be powered to work.
'tis a simple power supply to attach though, take the ime and connect it before putting on the road.
Oh, and the low level fuel tap is just sheer brilliance

I have also been considering fitting one of these speedo's to my SX, can you please tell me is the low fuel light an option and is it easy to install, Thanks.

The low fuel light / warning needs a sender in the tank. I think it only works with the type on the tap so you need to just change the fuel tap to the type with the sensor.

I have one in my SX/Jet.
Fairly straightforward, if you are ok with electrics.
I fitted mine whilst doing the DC conversion, so everything was in bits anyhow.
The low fuel warning is very useful, you need to fit the fuel tap with a sender incorporated into it, available from SIP too.
The sender is just a magnetic switch that makes and breaks as the float on the tap assembly goes up and down.
My first tap went stiff to turn and started to leak, but SIP sent a replacement out FOC when I contacted them about it.
When the tank gets down to the level of the float dropping a warning comes up on the speedo flashing "FUEL" where the miles are shown.
I've found the CHT temp facility very useful whilst setting the engine up.
All in all a very useful product, which doesn't look out of place.

SIP speedo is great and all functionality useful. Using the cable to drive the speedo though makes it only as good as a standard lammy speedo. If your drive mechanism is unreliable the speedo output is too. I started with that and quickly shifted to the pick up method.
