If it was decent powder coating (primer/topcoat) you would be unlikely to see (or read clearly) the numbers.

The coaters I used new I would ask for the number not to be filled so went 'light' over the frame number.
You can still read it clearly. The coat is still good over that area, thicker elsewhere.

I took a rubbing off mine for the LCGB dating certificate, and photographed it before the frame was powder coated. You can barely see the numbers now, but I've painted the indentations so I hope this will satisfy an examiner if need be when I come to get it registered.

I thought frame numbers had to be clear at all times, (in case stopped by police etc).
Maybe I am wrong, will have to find out.
Thanks for replies.

I have a very thorough MOT guy. He checks the frame number every time even though I've been taking the same scooters to him for years.

Paul.
So I guess it is important to keep frame numbers visible.

the coating on my indian frame is very good and with done with a bit less over the numbers - As we all know Indian numbering is s+#te but are still legible and were checked at inspection when it was registered.
My API S2 was done the same way
A good powder coater is what you need
