No Spark on S2

Postby Granty » Thu Nov 12, 2015 8:13 pm

Troops, hopefully a simple one here, don't get a spark, take green wire out CDI and get a spark, buggy starts and runs fine but obviously cut out switch doesn't work and I need to stall it to stop.

Can the only thing wrong be the cut out switch?

The kill button shorts your green to ground. It's either at ground all the time hence no spark or the green wire going from the CDI to the headset is shorted to ground. It may have come out the connector block in the headset, Easy to test the wire with a meter. Beware touching the green wire or the button with the engine running, it will make you jump

Hahahahaha, done that before, I was having trouble with the horn (it was constantly on so must have been earthing somewhere). When I took the brown wire out the junction box it touched the kill switch wire and the engine stopped and wouldn't start.

That's when I took the green wire out the cdi and it sparked fine. I must have somehow blew the cut out switch???? G

You will normally have a short wire to the switch from the connector block start by disconnecting it at the top end. that will prove the wire down the loom from the back. the switch is very simple a button than when in connects a small brass plate to the frame or mounting bracket that holds the switch in the headset. you may have spot welded it but nothing a small file should not be able to fix
