Technical help for Series one, two and three Lambrettas. Models include the Li, Li Special, TV, SX, GP, Serveta and API/SIL models

I have bought a Series 2 LI 125 engine and I have noticed that when I fitted it to my scoot, the rear shock mounting on the casing protrudes 53mm. This means that there is a gap of about 5-6mm when I fit the rear shock! I measured the rear engine mounting on the casing of my GP200 engine and it protrudes 47mm and there is no gap when the rear shock
Is fitted, so it fits perfect!
Is this normal for the rear shock casing mounting on a series 2 to protrude this distance and have this gap? I suppose I will have to shim the gap with washers? Or any other ideas folks????
Cheers

If the pin is fitted correctly in the casing at the back of the mount, then it's either been changed or the casing is Spanish that took a wider damper? Fitting a spacer under the nut is the norm.

I had a similar problem. I had a ' long ' shock absorber mounting pin on my Spanish Series 3 frame, and a ' short ' pin on my Indian GP 200 engine. I had to put a spacer on the frame pin, which I got from Rich Presley.
