Chemical stripping

Postby james1889 » Thu Feb 11, 2016 9:41 pm

is chemical dipping a method of stripping body panels members would recommend rather than blasting? Are the alloy parts such as headset, honcasting suitable for this.

yes, its better/kinder than blasting , i take it your talking sand/grit blasting ?

I wouldnt get any alloy parts sand blasted , i recently had an expansion chamber and front internal disc hub stripped , and both came out like new. Steel and alloy parts do get treated in different tanks as far as i know :)

Thanks Carlos. I thought it would be better than blasting but wanted to make sure there was nothing nasty I wasn't aware of. I'll take them next week - hopefully they'll not want them long,
Cheers
