Thanks in advance for any help given.
Problem with kickstart stop sitting approx 1" below rubber stop on side casing means there is not a great deal of leverage to kick scoot off.
Have removed kickstart with a view to putting it up a spline so to speak this however, means it is above the side casing stop now.
Question is, is it ok just to turn shaft down until kickstart stop goes under side casing stop & then sliding kickstart fully home onto shaft. Hope this makes sense.
Cheers Tim.

Welcome to the forum.
Much of the problems with deployment of the kick-starter plunger is related to the ramp which dictates where the plunger engages with the teeth on the first gear.
Is the ramp on your engine fitted to the chain-case, or built into the gearbox end-plate?

I had the same problem and did what you are suggesting which worked. What you have to watch out for is the kickstart isn't dragging when the motor is running, if so then the ramp will need adjusted

Thanks for the help Gents.
I suspect it is a SIL GP endplate with ramp built in as the engine case is an Indian 200 item.
Kickstart is a one-off custom item so the stop is really just welded on where it was suitable I suspect.
Cheers Tim.

Have you an original k/s to replace the custom k/s? This might eliminate the custom k/s from the equation.
Once you have established this, you can then think about the ramp. The GP ramp can be converted back to the adjustable Li style, if the ramp is the problem.

hi Tim
doing what you have suggested is fine to start with.
in my experience, once fitted, the pedal may only move down with no resistance as little as 20mm and when released the piston teeth will not be in contact with the gear teeth. this "free" gap may be as large as 40mm and still work correctly.
providing you have some free play i would start the engine and push down gently on the pedal and see if the piston tries to engage.
you'll then know wether ramp adjustment is needed or not.
