Disc Brake Windows

Postby a19_graham » Thu Apr 14, 2016 9:34 pm

Hello All,
Finally bit the bullet and joined the forum

I have a small problem with the disc brake one my recently acquired GP, mainly that there isn't any!!!
I am onto my 3rd set to try now (First Casa, then Pattern and now scootopia), the issue is that they ALL seem too big, and even too big to re shape and size.
I have had the Disc apart today, and it is apparent that it is a remade one (Looks canny tbh), so I was wondering, if anyone had found this problem of the windows not fitting before, or had an alternative supplier?

At first I thought it may have just been too much Paint, but now I'm not convinced.

Thanks in Adavance

Hi

I think this maybe something you'll have to put up with if you've tried several different suppliers. I've had a similar experience with a scootrs disc hub, nice looking & a decent casting but the windows in the hub are about 6mm bigger than any windows I could find! Annoyingly the windows that they sell are original hub sized so don't fit!! Oh well

Mark.

Thanks for the reply Mark,

I've managed to squeeze in the last ones I bought (Casa were the worst) with a bit of fettling, but they're not right. I just didnt like to ride with none in, especially with the state of the roads now.

Drop them in a pan of boiling water for a few minutes, that'll soften them up enough to be able to get them in. Careful you don't let them fall inside though, easily done

So the ScootRS ones will fit an original disc brake properly?

Mine is a ScootRs one and the windows aren't quite deep enough to fully clip in the opening (possibly due to the paint/powder coat), I don't think there is any danger of them falling out though.
