Petrol pipe length

How long should the petrol supply pipe be? Does it make any difference what length it is? Series 3. Thanks

As long as it doesn't have a kink in it or can get trapped in anyway it really doesn't matter. My Carbs are on the wrong side (TS1,RB) pipes are about a foot long.
