Fitting an ignition key switch to a series 2

Is there any way to fit a conventional key switch to a series 2? Just having an ignition kill button ain't very secure!

I took kill switch button out and used dremel did a bit at a time till my new scootopia switch fitted

nor is fitting an ignition switch as all you have to do is remove the green from the cdi

DONT fit this if you think it's going to be the answer to your security concerns.

What's the best way to improve security? At the moment you just have to open the fuel tap, give it a kick and off you go!

Yep and with the ignition switch its pop the panel off, pull the green from the cdi open the fuel tap, give it a kick and off you go!

If you want to use this for security, then use it as PART of your overall security, many think fitting this is the be all and end all.

Security for your scooter essentially is more about common sense when parking up, ie somewhere theres plenty of people about etc to put off opportunists, also, don't think you can leave it somewhere for "just a minute" watch this video for why! :-/

for me (Series 2 with kill switch) I use a kryptonite D Lock on the fork leg, at home this is locked to a trailer tent on my drive but any other immovable object should do (when I get rid of the trailer tent Im putting in a concreted ground anchor)

If you have a garage then same thing, big effing lock to a ground anchor, proper garage defender locks for the door, not leaving the garage door open while working on those nice summer days where everyone is looking to see what you have in there etc.

Again, I use the steering lock, for what it's worth as it's easily bypassed but it's another step in the arsenal to ward off the opportunists.
Ideally when out and about, if you are locking up say at a rally then you want 2 locks of different types ie a GOOD cable lock / chain plus a D lock and a mate's scooter you can lock to as well while he also locks to yours.

Using your steering lock will provide more security than fitting an ignition switch, they'll have trouble riding away with that on. Best security is one that will prevent them from picking up the scooter and sticking it in the back of a van, i.e. a decent chain, lock and something to lock it to.

Ok, sounds like a Kryptonite lock on the forks then!

You can also consider welding a loop to the frame to allow you to pass a lock through it, left hand front foot board strut is a good place.

One of mine has a loop welded to the frame, works well
