Rear brake ... S3 or GP

Postby corrado » Sun Jul 03, 2016 3:15 pm

I've got a blank casing so think I'm correct in thinking that I can fit either the S3 or GP brake depending on which cam and pegs I fit. Am I correct and what's the pros and cons for either set up?

Yes you can use either, just match cam to shoes. Pegs are all the same

I use GP set up in all my bikes just for ease so I only have to keep one set of shoes on shelf, but equally I've set LI up for people and they have worked no issue.

Either type of pegs can be used but GP ones must use W clip and LI/SX/TV must use circlips as the profile of the locating recess is different.

I've got both sets of pegs Adam. I think I'm leaning towards the GP as parts are easier to get and the W clip is less fiddly than circlips. I was trying to get my head around whether or not the thicker cam of the S3 gave a more even spread of contact area on the pads to the drum, but assume that the add on clip on the GP shoes evens it out.
