Li crank and layshaft failures

Postby dickie » Tue Nov 15, 2016 5:43 pm

Folks,

I'm studying structural failure and forensic engineering at the moment.

I've decided to use layshaft and li crank failures as a focus of the study.

Could as many of you as can be arsedx send me photos of the failed components please?

The best ones are as soon as possible after the failure and from several angles particularly close-up of the face of the crack; where the steel appears granular. I also need to know what happened after the failure; for example was it left in the rain for a week before being photographed? Immediate photo? Stored in dry conditions for several years or months? Whatever may have happened, it all helps.

Thanks (potentially)
