Engine Cowling Removal

Postby ROClarke » Fri Dec 16, 2016 9:07 pm

Hi
I have just got back into scooters after a life away and cannot wait to get my hands dirty.
I have purchased a very nice DL200 with a TSL 225 barrel.
The question is can I remove the cylinder cowling without removing the engine or undoing rear shocker ?

no.
you'll need to remove the rear shock, and taking out the bumpstop will allow the front of the engine to drop down further.
then, depending upon what sort of pipe you have, you may have to remove the header to actually get the cowling off... but if you do have to do that, cut the cowling to enable fitting / removal without disturbing the header pipe next time...

It depends on your exhaust, but you will have to remove the rear shock. It's easy.

Why do you wish to remove the cowling?

Oh. That was a bit disappointing. Still, it's a proper reason.

On mine I sort of have to undo the cowl and the exhaust at the same time, once the rear shock has been removed.

And that's how it goes back together. Pain in the rear, for sure.
