Crank probs

Postby halesworthlambretta » Fri Aug 08, 2014 10:22 am

Help needed - fitted new crank to Spanish SX engine last night. The bottom of the con rod appears to be proud of the crank webs and at a certain point is catching on the engine case.

Any advice would be much appreciated

Cheers

Is it a standard type 58 stroke 107mm rod? also, was the mag housing fitted?

Sounds like you could have a 60mm stroke crank?

What's the origin/make of the crank and are you sure it's rubbing at the big end eye and not on a poorly seated bearing retaining plate?

I've only come across this with 60mm stroke cranks with standard rods :?:

Rich twigged to this before I mentioned it but between us we managed to give you a seconded opinion that helped you to identify the issue. Nice to be part of a community that helps each other out :)
