Chain guides?

Postby eadmr04 » Sun Mar 26, 2017 9:44 pm

Is it advisable to keep the bottom chain guide once replacing the top one with a nylon slipper adjuster or is it best left out?

If it helps you make a decision Dom, the chain goes tight at the bottom when the engine is pulling, which means it should be off the bottom of the chain casing,

Personally, I lose the bottom guide, but as Toddy says. opinions vary (Marmite time).

I suspect there will be some further posts.

Is there any reason why not to leave it in place?

Sometimes this type of bottom chain guide can be to thick at the front, effectively adjusting your chain on the bottom run.

/\ agree depending on what front sprocket you have.
I like a bottom guide so have shaved them down or re angled them to endure the chain is flowing nicely.

The ScootRS ones I found were the best of the bunch, not available anymore ??
